In the summer of 2021 I facilitated a poetry workshop with students from Hay Primary school. Together, we wrote a poem for Her Royal Highness, The Duchess Of Cornwall. And the Children read the poem to her during a very special visit to the Hay Festival. It was a brilliant experience and I was very proud of how the pupils performed their poem with confidence and excitement. I also got to talk to her about poetry, my book and my plans for the future. All in all, this was an inspirational day and I'm very grateful to have had this opportunity and to have met lots of lovely people on the day.
Daydreams and Jellybeans was named as a Great New Poetry read, A National Poetry Day Recommendation. This type of news is such a pleasure to hear. Poetry is an amazing language, it has such powerful abilities to lift us, inspire us, make us think and create. Sometimes, we just need to escape for a while and drift in the wind like some autumn leaf - I think poetry can do that for us. it can steer us into new places, and it can bring us together too. To have this wonderful recognition reminds me that I'm on the right path, my poems could be making a difference, finding those that need them. Thank you NPD for shining a light on Daydreams and Jellybeans.
